25-hour Tai Chi
and Functional Movement Course I (Sept.
2010)

DC, MS, CSCS is offering an 8-week, 25-hour Tai
Chi and Functional Movement Course I. This course is
intended for persons with an interest in learning Tai
Chi from an overtly biomechanical, and health and
wellness perspective, specifically as the discipline
relates to proper movement, enhancement of daily
function, and the initiation of the "relaxation
response" for stress management.
Specific applications of Tai Chi are also presented and
demonstrated for the purpose of learning efficiency of
movement. Persons seeking to apply the information from
this course for personal practice, in an office or
clinical setting, or to supplement a commercial approach
(such as participating in ongoing Tai Chi classes at
other facilities) will gain sound skills and resources to
serve these purposes, and advance their study by gaining
insights contributed by contemporary research in human
movement. Information about Tai Chi, its general purpose
and specific benefits are presented alongside clinical
research.
Course
Curriculum Overview: Bodymind unification principles and
techniques as they relate to human performance,
functional movement, and stress management for health and
wellness. Upon completion of the course, alumni will
receive a certification document and certification number
for future reference through BSI, and will receive PDFs
of relevant Tai Chi research, a CD with several video
demonstrations of drills, techniques and forms covered
over the 8-week course, and a growing network of
resources including additional training.

The next class will begin
in September,
2010. The following
course costs include all of the above items outlined in
the "Course Curriculum Overview," including the 8-week
training sessions. Registration between July 1 and
July 31: $150; Registration between August 1 and
August 15: $180; Registration after August
15: $210.
